Shumaker, Helen (nee Hayhurst). Beloved wife of the late David Shumaker, Cherished mother of Virginia (Thomas) Sparks, Michael (Mary) Shumaker, Daniel (Elizabeth) Shumaker, and Russell (Tamara) Shumaker. Darling grandmother of Thomas, Angela, Samantha, Noah, Maddy, Geoff, Kate, Bernadette, Colin, Natalie, Taylor, Cassie, Sarah, and Grace. Treasured great-grandmother of Mackenzie, Wyatt, Sloane, AnnMarie. Adored sister of Mary Wilson Coban, the late Betty and Bobbie, and loved by numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was very active and part of bridge clubs, republican chairwoman, golf leagues, bowling leagues, and volleyball. She was a long-time member of the Lakota school board and passion of core education and champion of conservative values.
Helen passed away on August 23, 2019 at the age of 88. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Hodapp Funeral Home 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd. (Rt. 42) West Chester, OH 45069 from 5 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7 p.m.In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Hillsdale College or Mason Christian Village
