NORRIS, James “Jim”, beloved son of Margaret and the late James Norris, loving brother of Barry (Penny), Tim, Nancy and Terry (Cindy) Norris, dear uncle of eight and great-uncle of six. Jim passed away on Monday February 13, 2017 at age 65. Jim was born January 28, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Assumption elementary in Mt. Healthy and Cincinnati La Salle High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors in History from The University of Cincinnati, McMicken College of Arts & Sciences in June of 1974. On June 6, 1987 he received his Degree of Juris Doctor from The University of Cincinnati College of Law. He went on to have a distinguished career as a Public Defender in the Kentucky Office of Public Advocacy. He began his career in London, Kentucky and retired from the Covington office on December 31, 2008. Jim received numerous awards including the prestigious Furman Award for dedicated leadership on behalf of capital clients. Jim was well known and highly respected in the legal community throughout The Commonwealth of Kentucky. Throughout his tenure Jim mentored many attorneys in The Department of Public Advocacy. Jim was very well known for his passionate and relentless pursuit of justice. As one close friend and colleague stated upon hearing the news of his passing, "he was such a fighter and TENACIOUS in the court room, and clearly in life as well". Jim was an avid UC Bearcat football and basketball fan. He was equally as enthusiastic about the Reds and Bengals. He also loved to travel and had a particular interest in our great National Parks out west. He also loved live music especially the blues. Christmas was Jim's favorite time of year. He collected Christmas ornaments as mementos of his many travels and interests. His love of Christmas was rooted in his love of family, the most important thing in his life. Jim will be dearly missed but never forgotten! "JIMMY STRONG" Visitation will be held at Assumption Church 7711 Joseph St., Mt. Healthy 45231 on Saturday February 18 from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
