JoAnn Smart Walker, age 87, of Maineville, OH, passed from this life on Friday, February 9, 2018. She was born on July 28, 1930 in Pataskala, Ohio and grew up in Columbus, OH. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, she began working as a copywriter and editor in Columbus, OH. She continued this work in Washington, D.C, where she met and married her husband of 37 years, Hinton Charles Walker, CDR, USN, Ret. As a Navy wife, she traveled widely and enjoyed making close friends and seeing many different parts of the world. In later years the computer kept distant friends close and the world at her fingertips. She was also an avid bridge player.JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Homer Smart, her brother, John Smart, and her husband, H.C. Walker. Among those who will cherish her memories are her brother, Jim Smart, children, John (Kathy) Walker, Tracy (John) Rogers, and David (Ruth) Walker, her grandchildren, Sara, Austin, Briana, Madeleine, and Sydney and great grandchildren, Harrison and Olivia. Private family services will be held.
