Philip A. Mortensen

January 21, 1960 — December 9, 2018

Philip (Phil) Arthur Mortensen, 58, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away much too quickly on December 9, 2018. He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 21, 1960, to Jerome and Catherine (Jaggard) Mortensen. He married Pamela Moore, friends from third grade, on June 18, 1983. Phil was a hard working jack of all trades, who would do anything to help another. Phil was very mechanical and loved fixing things; lawn mowers, cars, houses, furnaces, you name it, he fixed it. Most recently, Phil worked for Unique Lawn Care as their equipment maintenance supervisor. Phil loved drag racing, cars, sports and working; but family was most important to him, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. He also held his parents, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews in a special place in his heart. His presence in the family will be greatly missed by all. Phil is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pamela, children, Derek Mortensen, and David (Lauren) Mortensen; and his beloved grandchildren Tristan Anthony, Philip Jerome, Xavier Cole, Brock Logan, and Arya Jane. Also surviving are sisters; Gail (Paul) Crowell, Lisa Golden, Sharon (Jack) Lewis, Marianne (Bryan) Leininger, Joan (Jerry) Mustain and brothers Alan J. Mortensen, Roger (Dianne) Mortensen, and Glen (Susan) Mortensen, 18 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews, and one great great nephew. Also surviving are aunts, Anna (Jaggard) Haas and Mary (Joseph) Jaggard along with many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Catherine Mortensen and nieces Danielle Marie Garrett Sheehan and Karen Catherine Mortensen. A Funeral Mass for Phil will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9080 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM, until the time of Mass, in the Gathering Space at the church. Burial will follow the Mass in the West Chester Township Cemetery next to his parents, Jerome and Catherine Mortensen. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a time of fellowship and refreshments immediately following the interment service. For those wishing to honor Philip, it is suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to Catholic Charities of SWO. Condolences to hodappfuneralhome.com
