Stuart Gordon Evans

April 23, 1959 — March 27, 2017

Stuart Gordon Evans, age 57, of Fairfield Township, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, on March 27, 2017, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Stuart was born on April 23, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to John Harry Evans and Minnie Kathleen (Maul) Evans. Growing up with five brothers and one sister, he had many exciting adventures; including one involving curiosity, a lighted match, and paint thinner a neighbor had just dumped down the manhole. He and his identical twin brother Steve have been known to trick and confuse people on occasion.

Stuart graduated from Midlothian High School in Virginia, in 1978. After that, he moved back to the city of his birth, and it was there that he met Annette Huffman (at church), and they were married on November 30, 1985. Stuart began his career in inventory management at Carol Wright Gifts, and he and Annette had three children while they lived in Lincoln. In 1999, Stuart’s career took the family to Duncan, Oklahoma, where their fourth child was born. (Stuart remained a Husker fan.) The family then moved to Odessa, Texas, (2004) and then the Cincinnati area (2007), where he took a position with Kohl’s e-commerce.

Stuart enjoyed meeting people and making friends every place he worked and lived. He enjoyed also working in the yard (especially planting trees), fantasy football, following the news, talking politics, teaching Bible studies (especially discussing God’s nature and oneness), and serving in the media ministry at First Apostolic Church. He was a faithful and loving husband who always let his wife know how special she was to him. He was a devoted father who took care of his family and let his children know he was proud of them and loved them.

Stuart is survived by his wife of 31 years, Annette; his children Mikayla (Ben) Rodriguez, Landon, Emily, and Logan; father, John (Mary Jo) of Kansas; sister, Denise (Greg) Smith of California; brothers, John (Catherine) of Nebraska, David (Teruko) of Okinawa, Eric (Wanda) of Virginia, Steven of Virginia, and Kurt (Hoan) of Virginia; Huffman and Hartman in-laws and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 4-6 p.m. at First Apostolic Church, 6477 Cooper Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio, with the funeral immediately following at 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Stuart’s life. The burial will be on Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, Ohio. The family would like to thank First Apostolic Church for all the prayers, support, and meals. Flowers may be delivered to the church an hour prior to visitation time.
