GEORGE DONGES

MY CONDOLENCES – BETTY V. MEYER – DAUGHTER OF GEORGE WESLEY BURROUGHS & VIRGINIA OLIVE BAGBY – PASSED AWAY ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21. SHE WILL BE LAID TO REST ALONG SIDE HER HUSBAND GEORGE E. MEYER ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 – 90 ½ YEARS TO THE DAY AFTER SHE WAS BORN ON MARCH 26, 1919. JUST A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE LIVE 90 YEARS OR MORE, AND SHE GOT TO SPEND MORE THAN 89 ½ OF THOSE YEARS IN HER OWN HOME. SHE WAS BORN IN THE AFTERMATH OF WORLD WAR I; AND LIVED THROUGH THE GREAT DEPRESSION, WORLD WAR II, THE KOREAN WAR, THE VIETNAM WAR, THE GULF WAR, AND PORTIONS OF THE ONGOING WARS IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. SHE WITNESSED MANY MEDICAL AND TECHNICAL ADVANCES DURING HER LIFETIME. I’M SURE SHE HAD HER SHARE OF GOOD TIMES AND HER SHARE OF BAD TIMES. AT THE TOP OF THE LIST OF BAD TIMES HAD TO BE THE DEATH OF HER DAUGHTER SANDRA JEAN ON APRIL 21, 1971 AND THE DEATH OF HER SON LAWRENCE ON JUNE 4, 1994. CHILDREN ARE SUPPOSED TO BURY THEIR PARENTS – NOT VICE VERSA. GOD HAS DECIDED TO REUNITE BETTY WITH HER BROTHER BUDDY, HER HUSBAND GEORGE, HER DAUGHTER SANDY, AND HER SON LARRY. MAY THEIR REUNION BE A JOYOUS ONE. MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON HER SOUL AND GRANT HER EVERLASTING PEACE. – HER SON-IN-LAW – GEORGE DONGES
