Agatha Ann “Aggie” Stegeman, age 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Ascension Thursday and the Feast of St. Matthias, May 14, 2026.
Born Agatha Anna Weber on March 17, 1931, in Oldenburg, Indiana, to the late Joseph J. and Alvina M. (née Schrank) Weber, she was raised on the family farm as the third of thirteen children. Those early years instilled a strong sense of resilience, independence, and determination that remained throughout her life.
As a young woman, Aggie moved with her sisters to the Cincinnati area, where she began building a path of her own. Among her closest relationships was her lifelong bond with her late sister, Audrey. They shared many interests and values, among them a strong devotion to family, skill as seamstresses, and a good cup of coffee.
Aggie married William E. “Bill” Stegeman on June 26, 1954, at Annunciation Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, after meeting while working at Foster’s in Cincinnati. Together they shared nearly 72 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and deep commitment to one another. Aggie and Bill raised four boys, operated a family business, and remained active in their cherished Glendale and Roger Bacon High School communities, where they formed lifelong friendships and enjoyed a rich social life that included volunteering, progressive dinners, dancing, and gatherings with family and friends.
Bill referred to her as “Ag,” and they traveled throughout the United States and abroad. They were especially proud to have visited 45 states, a shared accomplishment reflecting their spirit of exploration and time spent together.
With an appreciation for the simple joys of home and tradition, Aggie collected replicas of Glendale landmarks, Santa Claus figures, and Christmas baby animals. She was an avid reader and faithfully completed daily puzzles and Cryptoquip in the Cincinnati Enquirer. She cherished quiet time outdoors on the porch and walking the property of their Sharon Road home. Feeding the birds became a ritual, often with leftovers set aside. She looked forward to meals out with family and friends, especially weekend breakfasts at Bob Evans with Bill. She enjoyed playing cards and easy conversation with loved ones, centered on memories, storytelling, and what mattered most in life.
Aggie held a deep devotion to Saint Anthony of Padua. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, quiet strength, generous heart, and lifelong devotion to her family. Affectionately known as “MiMi,” she took great joy in her great-grandchildren Gregory Q., James R., Millie, Marley, Fiona, Nelly, Francie, and Charlotte.
Though she quietly battled heart disease for many years, Aggie’s determination and desire to remain present for those she loved carried her through far more than many realized, and her presence was a steady source of strength for her family.
Aggie is survived by her husband, Bill; sons Greg (Mary Jo), Steve (Jayne), Jim (Kim), and Rick (Bridgett); grandchildren Chris (Gaby), Mike, Gregory L. (Claire), JoAnn "Joni", John (Ariel), Elizabeth (Nick) Meiszer, Lauren (John Simpson), Leslie (Andrew Carlson), Bryson White, Brittney (Billy) Cross, Abby White, and Andrew “AJ” White; siblings Roman (Phyllis) Weber, Rose Mary “Rosie” Taylor, Judy Hummer, Gary (Sally) Weber, and Diane Weber; sister-in-law Tamra Weber, wife of her late brother Don; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her grandson James Lucas Stegeman; family members Linda (née Stegeman) Hennel and husband Ken Hennel; Tim Driscoll; Terry Gampfer; and siblings Clarissa “Sis” (Art) Striecker, Audrey Weber, Evelyn Weber, Agnes (Tom) Schmidt, Ed (Mary) Weber, Jean (Doug) Forrester, and Don Weber.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 21, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 17 W. Sharon Ave., Glendale, Ohio 45246. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow immediately afterward, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati after Mass.
Arrangements are being handled by Hodapp Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roger Bacon High School, where Bill and their sons are alumni and Aggie and Bill were active in parent organizations. https://www.rogerbacon.org/giving/donate
