Alan Wernersbach

September 12, 1952 — May 29, 2024

Alan James Wernersbach of Sharonville, Ohio died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism on May 29, 2024.  He was born in Cincinnati, OH to Elaine and Albert Wernersbach in 1952.  He is survived by his mother Elaine, his loving wife Peg Wernersbach (nee Baker), His daughter Carrie Higgins (Tim Higgins Jr.). Alan will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Keira, Lexy, Evin, and Jenna Grause, Kyli, and Eli Higgins, and great grandchildren Grayson and Mckinley Higgins. Alan will also be remembered by his Siblings Glen Wernersbach (Melissa), Diane Weber (John), along with many nieces and nephews, also 12 brothers and sisters in law, and his loyal dog Jack.

He was preceded in death by his father, his sister Alice and his son David. He was a lover of nature and learned to appreciate it while he walked in the woods with his little dog “Happy” as a child.  He loved music and played the guitar and sang with various groups around town.  He wrote songs and performed them at the Queen City Balladeers which he had been a member of since college.  He attended the University of Cincinnati,  the University of Louisville and Xavier University and achieved two masters degrees in social work and special education.  He worked as both a special education teacher and a paraprofessional at several local districts including Princeton City Schools.  He was a leader with “Compassionate Friends” after his son David died.  He helped many other grieving families with his own grief.  Memorial donations can be made to the Queen City Balladeers or the Princeton City Schools music program.

Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Road, West Chester, OH 45069, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 pm.
