Albert Halleck Paddock II (“Al”) was born April 3rd, 1949, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the first child of Marcelle (Mongermon) Paddock, a French linguistic translator, and US Army Lieutenant Colonel, Albert William Paddock. When he was age 2, his family moved to College Hill, a historic suburb of Cincinnati, where his parents raised their family; siblings John (Nancy) Paddock, Marie-Louise Paddock, and Anne (Richard) Precord.
From his 42-year marriage with Anita (Beard) Paddock, he is proud father to Michelle (Jeff) Dehner, Hal (Emily) Paddock, Aaron Gabriel Paddock, Noelle Heath, and Thomas (Jean) Paddock; joyful grandfather to Hope (Jared) Kay, Joy Dehner, Adam Paddock, Bella (Jeremy) Chalfant, Natalie Heath, Josiah Dehner, Eden Paddock, William Heath, Violet Paddock, Addyson Noyes, Alexys Noyes, Ruby Paddock, and London Paddock, and loving great-grandfather to Beau Chalfant.
He graduated from the academic magnet, Walnut Hills High School, then from University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Economics and, later a B.A. in Education.
He raised 5 children in College Hill in the Catholic faith, as a life-long Bible reader and member of St. Vivian and St. Clare parishes, later moving to Mt. Washington and joining Guardian Angels parish.Coaching his children and grandchildren in soccer and baseball was his greatest passion.He also greatly enjoyed head-coaching many years of swimming and soccer at Walnut Hills and Aiken High Schools.
After selling Chevrolets at the Superior and Glenway dealerships in the 1970’s, he taught math in Cincinnati Public Schools for over 30 years, positively influencing thousands of children’s lives.He was an avid coin and stamp collector as well as a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Reds, U.C. Bearcats and all forms of chocolate.
He passed away peacefully, on November 20th, 2025, surrounded by several loving family members. Visitation at the Hodapp Funeral home 6041 Hamilton Ave., on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 11 AM until funeral service at 1 PM
