Aline will be remembered for her strong will, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family.

Aline Hensley (née Holland), age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 29, 2026, while receiving hospice care at her son Jeffrey's home. After several months of declining health following a hospital stay, she faced life's final chapter with the same strength, determination, and grace that defined her throughout her life. 

Born on February 15, 1934, in Pineville, Kentucky, Aline was raised in a hardworking coal-mining family alongside her many brothers and sisters. Growing up in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, resilience, and the importance of family. As the years passed, her siblings left their hometown in search of work and opportunities elsewhere, but they never forgot where they came from or the memories, they created together. 

Aline will be remembered for her strong will, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family. She was kind, caring, and always willing to help someone in need. She never hesitated to offer a listening ear, comforting words, or a helping hand. She was also fiercely independent and undeniably stubborn, a trait her family knew well. Once Aline made up her mind, there was usually little point in trying to change it. Family members often joked that arguing with her was a losing battle because she liked things done her way and wasn't afraid to stand her ground. While her stubbornness often led to spirited discussions, it was also one of her greatest strengths, helping her overcome life's challenges with determination and resilience. Beneath that strong exterior was a deeply loving woman whose greatest happiness came from caring for those she loved.

Her family was her greatest pride, greatest joy, and most treasured accomplishment. 

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Hensley (Theresa); granddaughter, Jennifer Angelo (Donald Angelo); grandson, Aaron Hensley; and great-grandsons, Liam, Eli, Jacob, and Noah Angelo. She was immensely proud of her family and took great joy in celebrating their accomplishments. She especially admired Jeffrey's strong work ethic and the loving father, grandfather, and family man he became. She shared a unique and cherished bond with Jennifer, whom she loved as the daughter she never had. Jennifer spent countless hours with Aline and her beloved husband, Willard, and they played an extraordinary role in her life. Aline never missed an opportunity to brag about Aaron and all he accomplished. His successes brought her tremendous joy, and she was proud of the man he became.

In her final months, Jeffrey welcomed her into his home, where she was surrounded by the love and comfort of family. Her daughter-in-law, Theresa, provided extraordinary care, ensuring she was comfortable, preparing many of her favorite meals, and spending countless evenings by her side. Together they talked about family memories, shared stories, watched Elvis movies, enjoyed late-night conversations, and even made plans for the future. Those moments brought Aline comfort and companionship, and her family will always be grateful for the compassion, dignity, and love Theresa provided during her final chapter.

Aline is survived by her sister, Hazel Mancilla, with whom she shared a particularly close and cherished bond throughout her life, and her brother, Eddie Holland. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Lucille Holland, Mayme Holland, and Paulette Holland, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willard Hensley; her parents, Ceph and Carrie Holland; her treasured sister, Corine Cook, who held a particularly special place in her heart; and her siblings Charlie Holland, Evelyn Baker, Delphine Westfelt, Hershel Holland, and Delmer Holland. 

Many of Aline's happiest memories were made surrounded by family. She looked forward to the annual family houseboat trips to Lake Cumberland, where generations gathered to laugh, relax, and create lasting memories together. Summers were especially meaningful to her. She treasured the time spent with her sisters, Hazel and Corine, as well as Jennifer and Danny during their summer visits. Together they spent days exploring garage sales, searching for treasures, sharing stories, laughing, and making memories that would last a lifetime. Some of their most treasured moments were spent sitting together on the front porch, reminiscing about old times, talking about family, and simply enjoying one another's company.

Aline was a woman of faith whose beliefs helped guide her throughout her life. She found comfort in watching Paul and Jan Crouch on Trinity Broadcasting Network and Jimmy Swaggart's programs, which became a familiar part of her daily routine over many years. She also greatly enjoyed listening to Betty Jean Robinson, whose music and messages brought her comfort, peace, and encouragement.

Aline loved keeping in touch with family and friends and spent countless hours on the telephone catching up with loved ones. She enjoyed hearing about their lives, celebrating their accomplishments, sharing stories, offering advice, and staying connected to the people who meant so much to her. Whether talking with a sibling, a grandchild, a lifelong friend, or an extended family member, she treasured those conversations and the closeness they brought.

She treasured the many years she spent crafting alongside her beloved sister, Hazel. Together they created countless handmade crafts and traveled to craft shows, sharing not only a hobby but precious time together. The hours they spent crafting, laughing, and building memories became some of the most cherished moments of their lives.

Family gatherings were especially dear to her. She loved the occasions when relatives would gather in garages and around family homes to play music, sing karaoke, tell stories, and laugh late into the evening. Those nights were filled with music, conversation, and fellowship, creating memories that would be treasured for generations.

Her family fondly recalls a trip to Florida when she helped herself to a bowl of Aaron's vanilla bean ice cream while sitting on the balcony. Convinced the vanilla bean flecks were dirt, she spent the afternoon carefully scooping them out and tossing them over the balcony. Certain she was doing the right thing, she later threw away the rest of the ice cream. When Aaron returned from a fishing trip and asked where it had gone, Aline matter-of-factly explained that she had thrown it out because it had dirt in it. The story became a beloved family memory and perfectly reflected her caring heart, stubborn determination, and unintentional sense of humor.

Among the places closest to Aline's heart was the old family home in Dixietown, Kentucky. To a passerby, it may have seemed like a weathered house worn down by time, but to her family it was priceless. Perched on a hill overlooking the river and near the railroad tracks, it served as the backdrop for countless homecomings, family gatherings, stories, laughter, and memories. What made it special was never the house itself, but the generations of love, connection, and tradition it held within its walls.

Aline especially treasured the time she spent with her great-grandsons. In her final days, they brought joy and energy into her room with frequent visits. They would climb into bed beside her, hold her hand, tell stories, and simply spend time with her. One of their favorite activities was taking her for "rides" by raising and lowering her bed, creating moments of laughter that brightened everyone's day. Their visits filled her with happiness, and she never wanted them to leave without a hug, words of encouragement, and a few dollars tucked into their pockets for a milkshake on the way home.

Whether gathered around a kitchen table, sitting on a porch, crafting with Hazel, watching her favorite television programs, vacationing with family, or simply spending time with those she loved, Aline treasured being surrounded by family and friends. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family, taking genuine joy in celebrating their accomplishments, both big and small.

Though her family will miss her deeply, they find comfort in knowing she is reunited with Willard, Corine, and the loved ones who went before her. Her legacy of strength, resilience, kindness, devotion, and unconditional love will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply. Her memory will live on in the stories shared around family tables, in the laughter of her great-grandchildren, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Her family was her greatest accomplishment, her greatest joy, and her most treasured legacy.

Visitation will take place at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd (US 42), West Chester, OH 45069, on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral service beginning at 11. Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, beginning at 2pm.
