Archie Davis “Dave” Sarley, 81, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026. A lifelong resident of Cincinnati, he was a proud graduate of Roger Bacon High School, Class of 1962. He went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Since 1984 he owned and operated his own HVAC company, Sarley Heating and Cooling. He served in the Army N. G. and later continued his dedication to fellow veterans as Past District Commander of the 4th District Ohio American Legion. He gave back to his community as a faithful blood donor. True to his Cincinnati roots, he remained an avid fan of the Bengals, the University of Cincinnati, and the Reds until the end.
He was the devoted husband of his beloved wife, Shirley (née Connett), and they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary the day before his passing. He was the loving and proud father of Melissa Jane (Sarley) Braunstein and Stephen Davis (Shannon) Sarley. He was an active and cherished role model to his grandchildren: Drew Sarley; Sarah (Alec) Theisz; Josh Sarley; Jake Braunstein; and Lizzie Braunstein. He is also survived by his devoted brother, Joseph (Penny) Sarley, and was preceded in death by his brother, Jon Sarley. Dave is further survived by many relatives, coworkers, and dear friends.
Dave was an avid golfer, bowler, card player, and outdoorsman who loved camping, fishing, and spending time at his lake house. A gifted singer and guitar player, he performed in a local band. You could frequently tell when he was coming or going by the sound of him whistling or singing a tune nearby. He was also a fantastic chef, and his beloved “dinner and a show” performances while cooking will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in tribute to Dave’s strength and perseverance during his long battle with lung cancer.
