Barbara J. Roundtree, affectionately known as "Meme," passed away peacefully at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 29, 2026. Born Barbara Cochran on September 18, 1942, in the serene hills of Casey County, Kentucky, she lived a life marked by deep devotion to her family and unshakable faith.

Barbara was a dedicated housewife and mother, roles she embraced with heartfelt commitment and love. She did things her way, guided by a strong belief in the Lord, a faith nurtured from her upbringing in a Baptist church nestled in the Kentucky hills. Her quiet strength and unwavering spirit were cornerstones of her character, shaping a life rich in values and tenderness.

Those who knew Meme remember her joyful spirit, especially her love for country music and the cherished moments spent with family. In her younger years, she found happiness at Lake Cumberland, soaking in the beauty of the water and sharing precious times listening to her husband play country music. These memories remain vivid, echoing the simple joys she treasured deeply.

Barbara was born into a large family, surrounded by the love of her parents, Nettie and Sammy, and siblings Wesley, Cecil, Jimmy, T.C., Estil, James, Marie, Lorena, Deloris, and Cathy—all of whom preceded her in death. She shared a life with her beloved husband, James Roundtree, whose memory she held close.

She is lovingly survived by her son Teddy, her granddaughter Jennifer, and great-grandchildren Hailey, Nick, Brooke, and Keaton, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her brother Gary and sister Joanne also survive her, remaining part of the strong family bonds she cherished throughout her life.

Barbara J. Roundtree’s journey was one of quiet grace and steadfast love—a life that touched many hearts. Her devotion to family, faith, and the music that uplifted her soul will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know her. As the family gathers to celebrate her life, they hold onto the profound impact of Meme’s presence, a beacon of strength and warmth that will forever illuminate their lives.
