Barbara Bolser Vanlandingham December 22, 1938 – June 20, 2026
Barbara Bolser Vanlandingham, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughters. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara spent 87 vibrant years touching the lives of those around her. Her family was central to her world, blessed with three children—Cathleen Johnson, Karen Campbell, and James Michael Davenport—as well as a step-daughter, Andrea Dolida, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Nanny."
Barbara dedicated 36 years of service to Proctor & Gamble, where she expertly managed the coupon department until her retirement in 2002. Her supervisor's farewell poem spoke volumes of her skills and integrity.
Following her move to West Chester, Barbara became a devoted member of Crestview Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon. Her passion for community service saw her actively supporting local initiatives, from the Hope Temple to East Walnut Hill's soup kitchen. She was integral to organizing the church rummage sales. Barbara was also Treasurer for the Pisgah Youth Organization, always cheering on her son Jimmy from the concession stand.
After moving to Blanchester, she continued her community support being a member of the Blanchester Athletic Boosters.
Music and dance were lifelong passions. In high school, she graced the stage as part of the Senior High Pony Chorus and later participated in musical productions that enriched local schools. Her talents in singing and dancing brought joy and raised funds for the community.
Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life: camping with her children and friends, sharing weekends filled with laughter, card games, and marshmallow roasts. The beach remained her favorite retreat.
In retirement, Barbara's commitment to children shone through her work with the West Chester/Liberty Community Foundation. Her efforts with Kids 2 Kamp and dental screenings made a difference in many young lives, earning her the title of Women of Excellence in 2005.
Together with her husband Bob, Barbara volunteered for Ohio Representative John Boehner, showcasing her civic spirit. Her friendships, especially those with the "Has-Beens," brought her deep happiness, filled with bowling, golfing, backyard gatherings, and cherished travel and vacation adventures.
A celebration of Barbara's remarkable life will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Hodapp Funeral Homes in West Chester, Ohio. Visitation begins at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:30 am. She will be laid to rest at West Chester Cemetery, alongside her beloved husband Bob, her parents Clarence and Dorothy Bolser, her brother Danny Bolser, and her son James Michael Davenport.
Barbara's legacy of love, community, and joy endures in the hearts of all who knew her.
