B.L. was a devoted husband, father, brother and papaw. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 4, 1950 to Jewel Lucille Phillips and Bernard Leon Muncy Sr. He resided in Trenton, Ohio with his wife, Pamela and went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2024 at the age of 73.
B.L. graduated from Lakota High School where he enjoyed playing football. He then went on to attend Lee University, formerly Lee College in Cleveland Tennessee where he was the first freshman ever asked to join the prestigious Lee Singers. He later attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. B.L. was an extremely friendly and fun-loving person. He was always smiling and saw the best in everyone. He was a gifted singer and devoted his life to the Lord. B.L. thoroughly enjoyed listening to gospel music. He found his calling as the director of music ministries at several congregations within the Church of God throughout his life. B.L. called the River of Praise Worship Center his home church.
B.L. met the love of his life, Pamela Jean Flynn in 1972 at Central Parkway Church of God. After wooing Pam with his Pontiac GTO, they were married June 3, 1972 in Cincinnati, OH. They had three children, James Bernard (Rachel), Jason Michael (Amanda) and Andrea Nicole (preceded B.L.) He is also survived by his two sisters Betty Austin (Tom) and Dottie Keppler (Tim), both residing in South Carolina.
Though B.L. loved his music and his children, his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. His grandchildren Mackenzie & Mason Muncy (James), Kaylee, Lanie & Sophia Muncy, Summer & Clifford Dozier, Shelby Schwalm and Rayvin Allan (Jason) all loved their Papaw very much.
B.L. worked for many years at General Electric but retired from the U.S. Post Office after 20 happy years of service as a letter carrier. During his tenure as a letter carrier, B.L. went through a lot of dog biscuits and pepper spray. After retirement, he worked at Manheim Auto Auction in Cincinnati where he got to experience driving various types of vehicles to and from their auction lot. He realized how much he really enjoyed driving sports cars!
B.L. will always be remembered for the way he praised Jesus and, of course, how he said, “You gotta be kiddin' me.” We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, father, brother and papaw. We will miss him every day! B.L.’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
