Bernice (Seeger) Hassett, age 90, of Cheviot, Mack, and Mason, Ohio, died November 13, 2025. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother (GiGi) and friend who will be deeply missed. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Hassett, married for 66 years before his death 3 years ago. Devoted daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Wehry) Seeger.
Bernice grew up in Cheviot and graduated from St Martin Grade School, Mother of Mercy High School and St Elizabeth Hospital Nursing School (Covington). Her love of science and math led to a scholarship to St Elizabeth. Although having children put her nursing career on hold, she put those skills to good use caring for her children, grandchildren, and husband. She was active in Camp Fire Girls when her children were in grade school as both a group leader and volunteer board member. Later, she worked for H&R Block and volunteered with AARP visiting nursing homes to assist residents with filing their income taxes. After one of her children had a school assignment to draw a family tree, Bernice became interested in genealogy. She traced her and her husband’s ancestors back to their roots in Germany and Ireland in the early 1800s. She enjoyed traveling around the US, and visited both Germany and Ireland.
Bernice’s husband, parents, and a brother Gerald (the late Shirley) Seeger predeceased her. She is survived by 5 daughters (the Sister Squad): Evelyn (Daniel) Finn, Carol (Chuck) Fetters, Linda (Terry) Sabatelli, Judy (Ralph) Abney, and Peggy (Michael) Brennan; 9 grandchildren Suzanne (Rich) Moebius, Patrick and Andrew Finn, Madison (Jack) Hamman, Brooke (Greg) Roth, Kendall, and Gabriel Sabatelli, and Lindsey and Allison Brennan; 4 great grandchildren Finn, Robin, and Ethan Moebius, and Miles Roth, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She was eagerly expecting the arrival of the Hamman twin babies next year. She is also survived by brothers Eugene (the late Bonnie) Seeger and Richard (Joyce) Seeger, sister-in-law Colleen (the late Bob) Bens, and many nieces and nephews.
