Bosh Charles "Chuck" Cowan, 82, of Milford, OH, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2023, at his home and in the company of family. He was born on February 4, 1941, in Middleburg, Casey County, KY to James "Bosh" and Mary June Cowan (Sharpe).
Chuck honorably served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1963 achieving the rank of E-5 Petty Officer. After his military service, Chuck worked in the construction industry, later owning and operating a commercial and residential window and door business for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the Masonic fraternity for over 50 years, a member of lodge (754), serving as Master (82), (88), and obtaining the 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite. Chuck was an active member of the Shrine, serving as Director for the Syrian Patrol, Legion of Honor, and Color Guard for many years. Volunteering with the Shrine Hospital (Hospital Hosts), he spent more than 2,500 hours transporting families for treatment, receiving the Volunteer Recognition Award for his service.
Chuck will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and commitment to helping others. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Judy Cowan (Elliott); his children Adam Cowan (Lori), Andrea Patrick (Terry), Amanda Blevins (Bob), and Aaron Cowan (Meradith); his 11 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Patrick and Jeanette; his brother, James “Jack” Cowan; and his sisters Janet Brackett, and Ruby Jo Bautista.
A visitation 5:30pm-7pm, followed by a Masonic service 7-7:30pm will be held on Tuesday, September 5th at HodappFuneral Home, 7401 Vine St. Cincinnati, OH 45216
Following the service, a Celebration of Life will take place at 8pm at Quatman Cafe, 2434 Quatman Ave, Norwood, OH 45212
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or Hospice of Cincinnati.
