Carl Mize

September 24, 1926 — June 7, 2025

Born on September 24, 1926, in Mt Vernon Kentucky. He lived his final year of life at Chesterwood Skilled Nursing, where he passed on June 7, 2025. He was the third child of Opha Adams and Elmer Mize. Of his 4 siblings, 3 are deceased (Ed Mize, Edna Smith, Doug Mize) and the 4th Roger Mize unknown. Their family moved to Cincinnati in the early 1930's where he grew up in Reading, Ohio. He began working as a young adult at Nivison-Weiskopf, making cardboard boxes located in Reading, Ohio. There he met my mother; Rebecca Jane Napier and they were married. Shortly after, he was drafted in World War II and served 2 years overseeing prisoners of Japanese War Crimes. Upon leaving the service he began his lifelong career of autobody work starting at Reading Ford, then Kerry Ford, and eventually starting his own company Carl's Auto Body. He leaves behind one daughter Carla Carrelli Dillard, and two grandchildren Corey Carrelli, and Dana Pace.

At this time, we want to acknowledge all his extended family who made the memories of life. The Napier Family whom he shared many of his early years with. The Nolting Family and Judy Nolting whom he shared his later years with. Please know that after many years hearing all the stories his fond memories will live on with me. Even though I was an only child my dad had many other children whom he loved and enjoyed being part of his life. Those are Harold and Eddie Smith, Bonnie Battig, Sue Thoene and Ronnie (Lee) Murphy. He loved and cared for them all. From my father thanks for all the memories.

An Inurnment will take place on Wednesday June 18, 2025 at Reading Cemetery, beginning at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in honor of Carl, to Shriners Hospital for Children.
