Charles R. Schwallie
March 11, 1936 – April 29, 2025
Charlie passed away Tuesday April 29, 2025 at age 89 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospice Unit in Cincinnati. Loving father of Tony (Lynn) Schwallie and Angie Roos, dear grandfather of Kyle (Renee) Roos. Predeceased by his wife of fifty-three years, Janice J. Schwallie. Brother of Teresa Moore and the late Mary Frances Fetters, John Thomas Schwallie, George Schwallie, Joe Schwallie, Leora Yockey, Robert Schwallie, and Ruth Wenzel.
A remarkable person, Charlie worked for thirty-two years at General Motors in Norwood, Ohio but his real passion was farming. He was raised on a farm near Russellville, Ohio and went on to own two farms in Indiana, notably a two-hundred acre farm near Milan, Indiana with beef cattle, grain crops and hay which was in operation for seventeen years.
In retirement, Charlie and Jan, spent many winters in Venice, Florida where they cherished the warm weather and many friends, specifically Ruth Wenzel and her husband, Bob.
Sports were another passion of Charlie’s – he and Jan were season ticket holders of the Cincinnati Bengals’ inaugural season. The Bengals, the Reds, the Ohio State Buckeyes and UC and Xavier basketball were all of great interest and a frequent topic of conversation.
Nothing was more important to Charlie than family. He had great reverence for his mother, Anna, father, John, and his eight siblings. The proudest accomplishment of his life was to be a husband to Jan, a father to Tony and Angie and grandfather to Kyle.
We love you Charles Schwallie and are proud of the life you led, the example you set and the love you so freely expressed and gave to your family. No one deserved the spotlight more and yet avoided it to the greatest degree possible.
