Charles Walker, born on March 21, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at Storypoint Fairfield. With a profound dedication to education and community service, Chuck devoted over 40 years of his life to St. Rita School for the Deaf. He began his career as a residential advisor and eventually became a teacher, imparting knowledge in government and economics before moving into special education. His commitment to his students was matched only by his love for sports, as he proudly coached basketball, baseball, and football. Chuck also contributed to the vibrant community at St. Rita's festival, where he worked on the summer crew and maintenance team.

Chuck earned his bachelor's degree in education followed by a master's in special education, underscoring his unwavering passion for teaching and supporting children with diverse needs. His influence extended far beyond the walls of the classroom, as he embodied the true spirit of mentorship and care for his students.

A man of resilience and optimism, Chuck faced life's challenges with a quiet strength, often finding joy in the smallest moments. He was a loving father who, alongside his wife Peg Walker, raised three remarkable children, instilling in them the values of faith and family. As a veteran who served in ROTC at Xavier University and later held the rank of Captain in both the Army and Army Reserve, Chuck also demonstrated a deep commitment to his country.

Chuck is survived by his beloved family, including his oldest daughter Maria, son-in-law Ryan DeAngelis, granddaughter Anna DeAngelis, son Matthew Walker Ragsdale, son-in-law Joe Walker Ragsdale, and youngest daughter Andrea. He is also survived by his brothers Steve Walker and Chris Walker, sisters-in-law Janice Walker and Carla Walker, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Max, Annabelle, Paul, Abby, Lucy, Theo, Terri Geis, Gary Geis, Dale Geis, Bart Geis, Bob Geis, Kelly Geis, and Michael Geis.

Chuck was predeceased by his cherished wife, Peg Walker, along with his parents Max and Francis Walker. He was also preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Sr. John Michael Geis and Sr. Joanne Geis, and his brother-in-law Jerry Geis, as well as Carol Geis, Jack Geis, and his beloved adopted son Sam, and three children Ollie, Oscar, and Maryanne who were not able to grace this earth..

As we remember Chuck, we celebrate a man whose kindness and dedication have left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
