Cheryl Ann Groves, née Rhodes, was born on April 15, 1958. Her passing on May 8, 2026, brings a profound sense of loss, yet there is comfort in knowing that Cheryl has finally found her peace and is now with God. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing her.
Cheryl devoted over two decades of her professional career as an administrative assistant at Cincinnati Container, exemplifying the qualities of a true hard worker.
Cheryl’s generosity knew no bounds. She was a constant caretaker, always putting the needs of others before her own. She rescued countless stray animals since she was a little girl, providing them with care and a safe haven. One of the most profound demonstrations of her love was her devotion to her nephew, Matt, whom she lovingly raised following the passing of her beloved sister, Debbie. This selfless act is a testament to Cheryl’s nurturing heart and her steadfast commitment to family.
Throughout her life, Cheryl was known for her unique personality and passions for all things involving angels or cats. She believed wholeheartedly in the joys of retail therapy, delighting in the hunt for garage sales and thrifty treasures. Gift-giving was her love language, and she expressed her affection through carefully chosen presents that reflected her thoughtfulness for what would bring a smile to another’s face. Those who knew her fondly recall her signature “fashionably late” entrances, a charming quirk, which often required gentle reminders that dinner was at five when it was actually scheduled for six.
Cheryl is survived by her son, Joshua Gerling; her sister, Cyndi Cohen; her brother, Mark Rhodes; her nephews Shane (Carly) Sciambra and Chris Cohen; her niece B. Heather (James) Templeton; and her great-nephews, Matthew and Sebastian. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Rhodes, and her sister, Deborah Sciambra.
Cheryl Ann Groves’ life was one of relentless generosity and heartfelt love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the angelic spirit she carried and the lives she touched with her compassion and grace.
