Colleen A. Maier, a cherished soul whose life was dedicated to, love, and the joy of living fully, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio, her birthplace where her journey began on May 27, 1943. A woman of remarkable spirit and warmth, Colleen—known affectionately by many as Mom, Mamma Bear, Grandma, and GG ma—leaves behind an enduring legacy both within her family and the countless lives she touched throughout her career and personal endeavors.
Colleen carried the values instilled by her parents, Charles A. Maier and Hilda A. Wahoff, whose memories she held dear even as she journeyed through life’s many chapters. Though her sisters Carolyn, Charlene, son John P. Leesemann, and former husband Paul N. Leesemann (father of her children) have passed, the spirit of family remained at the heart of her existence.
Colleen was a paragon of commitment in her professional pursuits, building a distinguished career in retail management. Her tireless devotion was evident in the way she cared for her employees and customers alike, cultivating not merely professional relationships but friendships that spanned years. Her work ethic was matched by her compassionate nature, making her a beloved figure in the circles she inhabited.
Life for Colleen was a vibrant tapestry of experiences. She delighted in traveling, embracing the thrill of discovery whether aboard a cruise or immersed in the warmth of family vacations. Her passions extended beyond travel; she was also fond of singing—a testament to her lively and joyous approach to life. These pursuits mirrored the personality she so beautifully embodied: caring, dedicated, and ever eager to embrace life’s offerings.
Perhaps none of her achievements shone brighter than the family she nurtured with unwavering pride. Colleen counted among her proudest accomplishments her five beloved children—Terry (Mark) Walsh, Lori Leesemann, Sharon (Mike) Cook, Christine (Patrick) Bigner, John Leesemann (predeceased) —and the sprawling lineage she treasured: fifteen grandchildren (Alex, Mallory, CJ, Evan, Taylor, Kristen, Stephanie, Ben, Joey, Aly, Cara, Sarah, Ryan, Patrick, Jr., Matthew) and twenty-one great-grandchildren (Miriam, Edison, Everett, Eli, Ethan, Ellie, Cohen, Hayden, Rylin, Braelynn, Austin, Lexi, Anna, Alise, Elijah, Henry, Maddie, Max, Maddox, Jackson, Crosley). Her companion, Karen Brown and beloved fur baby Carley stand faithfully by the memories they shared and the love that endured.
Colleen A. Maier’s story is one of profound affection, steadfast spirit, and joyful engagement with the world. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and mentor, she leaves an indelible imprint on the hearts she encountered. Her legacy is a rich mosaic of love, loyalty, and joy—a beacon illuminating those fortunate enough to have known her.
May we remember Colleen not only for the remarkable woman she was but also for the grace with which she journeyed through life, inspiring others to live fully, care deeply, and embrace every moment. Her memory will forever be cherished where her spirit continues to resonate in the lives she enriched.
