David Meiser (82) passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in West Chester, Ohio, surrounded by family, love, and laughter, just as he lived.

Born on June 3, 1943, in Pennsylvania. Son to Regis and Anita Meiser, David grew up with a strong competitive spirit and a love of sports and family. A proud West Virginia University graduate, he was a varsity swimmer who carried that same energy and drive into everything he did.

David began his teaching and coaching career at Ross High School before spending the majority of his career at Fairfield High School, where he taught science and coached football, basketball, cross country, and track. His passion for coaching earned him a place in the Fairfield Hall of Fame and, more importantly, a place in the hearts of countless students and athletes.

Beyond the classroom and sidelines, David lived life fully and with humor. A die-hard Steelers fan, even in the heart of Bengals country, he loved good-natured teasing, movies, and a well-mixed gin and tonic. Summers found him at the Fairfield Golf Course, where he worked (and socialized) before and after retirement. The Fourth of July was always spent poolside at his brother Blair’s, enjoying Mary Ann’s cooking and plenty of laughter. In the winters, he escaped to Florida with his friends.

He had a soft spot for cookies and Klondike bars, a love for a good western, and a way of making everyone feel like a friend. Whether you called him Coach, Meiz, or Pa, you knew him as someone with a kind soul and an even bigger heart. He was endlessly patient and playful, making every child feel seen and loved, especially his grandchildren who brought him so much joy.

David is survived by his three children: Michael (Meghan), Blair (Michelle), and Lisa (Adam) and his five grandchildren: Jackson (17), Collin (16), Braden (14), Ian (12), and Miles (5). He is also survived by his brother, Blair, sister, Mary Beth Bernhardt and former wife, Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents, Regis and Anita.

His lifelong best friend, Bob Polson, will carry forward decades of stories, jokes, and friendship that defined a remarkable bond.

David Meiser’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave, proof that a good life isn’t measured by years, but by the people whose hearts you touch along the way.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at Hodapp Funeral Home in Liberty Township . Family, friends, former students, and teammates are all invited to come share memories, laughter, and a toast to a man who made life brighter for everyone who knew him.
