Donald Ray Howson

October 16, 1944 — June 2, 2025

Cincinnati

Donald Ray Howson, born on October 16, 1944, in Eubanks, Kentucky, resident of Hartwell, passed away on June 2, 2025, at age 80, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. He was raised alongside his twin sister, Dottie Stephens, by their mother, Ruth Smith (nee Howson) and grandfather, Clyde Howson.

At the young age of 14, Donald met the love of his life, Dottie Griffin. Their young love blossomed into a lifelong partnership when they married on August 14, 1965, at the age of 19. Together, they celebrated nearly six decades of marriage, during which they welcomed three children – Donald (Manya) Howson, David (Adrianne) Howson, and Melissa Howson Bowling. Their joy grew along with the addition of their 8 grandchildren – Brooke, Jake, Jamison, Jadyn, Reese, Hunter, Chase, and Spencer – as well as one great-grandchild, Harper, who lovingly referred to him as Papaw.

Donald, affectionately known as “Moose” and “Pops,” loved spending time with his family and friends, regularly watching his children and grandchildren pursue their various passions. He dedicated over 40 years to Xtek, Inc., providing for his family as a utility operator. Don was an avid sports fan and true music lover. He had an unwavering love for baseball and NASCAR racing, spending countless hours following his favorite hometown teams -the Cincinnati Bengals and the Reds. His love for baseball extended beyond watching the game – he both played and coached baseball and softball for most of his life, sharing his love of the game with younger generations.

Donald was a devoted member of the Metropolitan Harvest Church of God. His faith provided him strength and guidance throughout all of life’s challenges.

Donald's legacy lives on through his loving family and the countless lives he touched throughout his years. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
