Donald D. Lytle

May 4, 1935 — February 26, 2024

Goshen

Donald (Don) Dale Lytle of Goshen, Ohio passed peacefully in Dayton, Ohio on February 26th, 2024 with family by his side.

Born May the 4th, 1935 to Forrest and Ruth, both of whom preceded Don in death; Don is survived by his loving wife, Peggy (nee Latham); his only son, Mark; his 2 granddaughters Kristina Lytle, and Holly Lytle-Mapes (Phil Smith); and 9 great grandchildren, Gabrielle Lytle, Aden Lytle, Seth Lytle, Zackary Kirkendall-Lytle, Adri Mapes, Bailey Smith, Giovanni Lytle, Isaac Lytle-Brooks, and Maggie Lytle-Kolodzik; as well as extended family and countless beloved friends who became chosen family. Don was preceded in death by his elder brother, Gary (Polly).

After graduating from Lockland High School in 1953, where he and Peggy fell in love on a school trip to Washington DC, Don continued his family's business until his retirement in 2004. Don had a profoundly positive impact on an immeasurable number of people in his life. Don and Peggy lovingly opened their home, lakes, woods, and fields to innumerable friends and family over the years for indelible memories of holiday gatherings, bonfires, picnics, haunted trail rides, lessons on tree, singing together on the piano porch, swimming, ziplining, and so much more. Going for a visit to Don and Peggy's was always warm, simple, pure, and full of hard work, joy, and laughter; these visits are often described as "magical" by many. Don will be deeply missed by everyone who loves him and we are all forever grateful for the time we had with him.

A brief committal service will be held outdoors for family and friends at Crown Hill Cemetary on Monday, March 4th, 2024 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting The Arbor Day Foundation, to plant trees in National Forests in Don's honor, at: shop.arborday.org/commemorative-trees-for-others
