Doris E. Mathews

Beloved wife of the late John B. Mathews married 57 years. Loving
mother of James C., Steven P. (Jenny), Thomas S. (Melissa), Jeanne C.
(Tom), and Kristine S. Dear grandmother of Alex, Allison, Heidi
(Michael), Heather, Mark (Tristen), Christopher (finace Brittany),
Andrew, and Daniel. Dear great-grandmother of Ava, Atticus, and Hale.
Daughter of the late Charles and Dora Butti. Doris was born July 24,
1930, in New Rochelle, NY where she grew up and was proud of her
nursing career as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at New
Rochelle Hospital. After moving to Hanover College in Hanover,
Indiana, she focused on caring for her children and raising a
beautiful family with her husband John. In addition, Doris always had
room in the house for her cats and dogs and considered them a big part
of her family as well. And in retirement, Doris' love for animals was
ever present as she enjoyed walking down to the lake and feeding the
ducks and geese. Doris passed away after a long battle with
Alzheimer's on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at age 93. She will be
missed dearly. Services are being held privately. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
