From a young age, Ed found joy and solace in music, particularly at the piano. His skillful playing was not just a talent but a reflection of his soul, weaving melodies that resonated with emotion and brought joy to all who had the pleasure of listening. His grandchildren, in particular, cherished moments spent gathered around the piano, where Ed's fingers danced across the keys, filling the air with melodies that now echo in their hearts.

Beyond his musical talent, Ed was known for his quick wit and love of jokes. He had a knack for turning any occasion into a laughter-filled event, where his humor brought smiles to faces young and old alike. His jokes, often delivered with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, became a hallmark of family gatherings and a source of enduring joy for his children and grandchildren.

Ed Schmalz is survived by his loving family, including his children, grandchildren, and friends who will forever treasure his memory and the laughter he brought into their lives. His legacy as a devoted grandfather, talented pianist, and master of humor will live on through the stories shared and the melodies remembered.

Ed found a loving home at Evergreen Retirement Community in which he continued to share his music and his youthful spirit with others who were young at heart. His ride or die crew with Linda, Bert, and Murray, along with his musical crew Roman, Bob, and Ovie.
