Eleanor Marie Moorman

Jun 20, 1942 — Jul 18, 2026

Eleanor Marie Moorman (nee Powell), 84, born June 20, 1942, in Yorktown, Indiana, died July 18, 2026, in West Chester, Ohio, after a brief illness.

Elly is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Charles Joseph Moorman (1938-2019), her parents Gale Levoy Powell (1915-2010) & Mary Francis Powell (nee Adkins) (1923-2015), and granddogs Buddy, Bailey, and Scooby.

She is survived by her children Joseph Christopher (Amy) Moorman of Aurora, IN; Jennifer Marie Moorman of Mason, OH; Daniel Benjamin (Kelly) Moorman of Madisonville, TN; grandchildren Alexander Scott Davis & Zachary Mark Davis of West Chester, OH; her sister Carol Jean (John) Clegg of Muncie, IN; sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and granddogs Bear & Max, Gracie, Scrappy & Maggie.

Elly was raised on a farm in Indiana. At 18, she moved to Cincinnati because farm life wasn’t for her. She met her husband Chuck while working at Procter & Gamble. He saw her walking in the rain wearing rubber galoshes, and he thought: “That’s the woman for me – she’s pretty and practical.” He outlasted her other suitors.

Elly had a successful career as a Manager of Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving.

She enjoyed animals, reading, word puzzles, watching game shows & westerns, and playing the board game “Aggravation”. One of her greatest joys included teaching her grandsons how to play card games.

Elly was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She spent a lot of time caring for her loved ones.

Elly was friendly, spunky, funny, smart, a straight-shooter, loyal, hardworking, frugal, stern and loving. She did everything with honesty and integrity. She will be greatly missed.
