Elizabeth Hodapp

November 25, 1924 — November 19, 2023

Elizabeth Yeager Hodapp passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, after an amazing life of almost 99 years.  She was born on the 25th of November, 1924 to Glenn R. and Maurice V. Yeager of Terre Haute, Indiana and was the 6th daughter out of 8 daughters.  During WWII, Elizabeth worked as a machinist to support the war effort.

In 1948, she graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Home Economics. Elizabeth married Null Marcus Hodapp and they had 3 children.  Later, she received her teaching certificate from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and taught Home Economics. 

Elizabeth was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority Purdue University; member of Lebanon Community Methodist Church, Lebanon, Ohio where she taught Sunday school and was a Youth Fellowship advisor as well as a member of Mt Carmel Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio.  She also served as Greeter at the Taft Museum, Cincinnati, Ohio. For over 25 years, she was a Charter and Board Member of Little Miami, Inc (the 1st Ohio river to receive "Wild and Scenic River" designation from the federal government). Elizabeth was involved in 4-H as a child. At the age of 12, she won 3 first places at the county fair in cooking, sewing and piano. As an adult, she served as a 4-H leader in horses, sewing and electricity.  All three of her children were involved in 4-H.  She developed a passion for horse breeding and raising foals as 4-H projects for her children. She served as a Cub Scout leader for several years, and her son achieved rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts.

Elizabeth loved playing the piano, singing in choirs (church choir, Sycamore Singers which eventually became Jubilant Singers) travel, gardening and animals. She especially loved her family.  Elizabeth was a loving and devoted mother, always putting the needs of others before herself.

She is survived by her son, Mark Hodapp (Sheryle) of Pleasanton, CA, daughters: Susan Stuart (Alan) of Cocoa Beach, FL and  Lynne Clark (Steven) of Sugar Land, TX and grandchildren: Alexander Stuart (Lindsay), Marilyn Aenchbacher (Will) and Stephanie Alabastro (Miguel), great grandchildren: Samantha and Sidney Stuart and Angelo Clark Antonio Alabastro and two sisters: Elaine Green and Emily Blank. 

Elizabeth's "Celebration of Life" will be held at 11:00 AM on June 10 at Old Armstrong Chapel UMC, 5125 Drake Rd, Indian Hill, Ohio 45243.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at: Little Miami Conservancy, https://littlemiami.org
