Evelyn E. Worpenberg

Evelyn E. Worpenberg (nee Sanker), age 97, passed away peacefully at her Greenhills, Ohio home on 15 January 2026. Her extensive legacy includes 12 children, 20 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren who, though deeply bereaved, are grateful for the time they had with her this side of heaven. Mom, no words could begin to express the love and admiration that we all have for you. We will remember and share your devotion to family and your commitment to sharing God’s love with all for generations to come.

In Evelyn's house all who entered knew they were welcome, and every grandchild found a second home. Evelyn was a devoted wife to her late husband Frank Worpenberg, with whom she shared an enduring commitment. She is preceded in death by her beloved sons Butch, Mark, Bob, and Kirk, her parents Louis J. and Mary J. Sanker (nee Bokenkotter), brothers Joe (Shirley) Sanker, Lou (Betty) Sanker, Jack (Betty) Sanker, Bill Sanker, and Ed (Shirley) Meldrum, and by sisters Mary Rose Sanker, Kathy (Al) Egbers, Helen (Herb) Huesman, and by in-lawsThomas Murphy, Robert and Shirley Worpenberg, John Caywood, and Gayle and Walt Gozdor.

Evelyn is survived by her children Frank (Faye), John (Beverly), Lynn, Debbie (Glenn) Henderer, Bill (Lisa), Judy Hampel, Joe, and Douglas (Lisa), daughters-in-law Donna (Joe) Cunningham and Pam (Les) Rhoads, sister-in-law Mae Caywood, by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by her many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will take place on Friday, 23 January 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hodapp Funeral Homes - Carthage, 7401 Vine St., Cincinnati, OH 45216, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, 24 January 2026 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Greenhills, Ohio. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Celebration of life will be held in the undercroft at Saint Columban Catholic Church, 894 Oakland Road, Loveland Ohio, 45140.

Mom, you often spoke of what Heaven would be like. We hopeit is all you ever dreamed it would be. You haven't left us; you've just gone ahead.
