Gabriela Aleman Torres

March 22, 1960 — June 7, 2022

Gabriela (Gaby) Aleman Torres left this world on June 7, 2022 following a courageous battle with cancer. She is the beloved wife of Fidel Torres. Proud mother of Gabriela (Gaby) Torres and Claudia Torres. Dedicated Babi (Grandma) to her two grandchildren Leonardo (4) and Nikolas (2). Cherished daughter of Mercedes Palma and the late Manuel Aleman.
Gaby’s love of life was evident in the way she lived. She was a lover of music, laughing, bright colors, traveling, her family, friends and her faith. She had an infectious and joyful personality, that drew in those around her. To know Gaby is to have laughed with or to have shared a kind word, whether a close friend or stranger. Gaby touched the lives of so many people in her time with us; she really is that pebble thrown into a lake as the lives she touched act as ripples that extend far beyond just us.
Gaby was talented in so many aspects of her life. She was an amazing artist, bringing color to our lives through her decorations, paintings, knitting, crochet, needlework, stationary making, gardening and so many other ways; she was just great at everything she tried. She also loved playing tennis, going to the beach and she was a great cook and baker (though she always said she didn’t like it). Aside from that, Gaby enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, always searching for new places to explore, new people to meet, new food to try and new stories to share with all.
For Gaby, family came first. She looked after her parents, her extended family and her friends. Gaby was an incredible spouse providing constant support and love. It was her force and sheer determination that guided our family and instilled remarkable resilience in her daughters. Most importantly Gaby was an amazing mother and that was her greatest accomplishment. Her children were her life and there was nothing she would not do for them. There was never a day that went by she didn't brag about her two beautiful babies (she still called them babies) and her adored grandchildren who she wanted to see grow up.
Gaby was a force to be reckoned with and pillar of strength for all those around her. She was a hard worker, resilient figure in the face of adversity and loyal friend. Gaby was a true lover of life and her smile could put anyone at ease; from newborns to the elderly, everyone was Gaby’s friend. She was compassionate, a humorous storyteller, a giver and all around a voice of reason. She touched the lives of so many people across multiple generations. During her time with us, she made a point to always help anyone with whatever she could, never second-guessing her decision. Even when ill, Gaby remained positive – she always found the silver lining to keep pushing forward in any situation. Gaby was so special. She was one of a select few who could actually rise to meet challenges with a smile.
We are proud to have been able to call Gaby our mom and my wife. She left us on the same day that she became a mother for the first time, a gift so that we would not be sad because it will always be a day of celebration.
Gaby was such a light in this sometimes dark world and she will never be forgotten but forever remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
