It is our deepest regret to announce that Genta Morina Bangun O'Brien, 54, passed away in her home in Cincinnati, OH on August 4, 2025, and went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Born in Bogor, Indonesia, to Pirman Bangun and Uu Kersiahwati, she was raised to be a diligent, hard worker who dedicated her heart, time, and plenty of her food for her loved ones. She was loved and cherished by many, and is survived by her eldest daughter Dinda O'Brien (son-in-law Matthew Lawson) and her younger daughters Gita O'Brien and Talita O'Brien.
A lover of languages, she learned English by the time she graduated from Pakuan University in Bogor with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1995. In 1996, she moved to the United States and began establishing a foundation for raising her family. With every step, she was an active member of each environment of which she was a part. In addition to her work as an accountant and AirBnB Superhost, Genta prided herself on being a member of the local Indonesian community, sharing her beloved culture through local festivals and gatherings. She served her church, her children's school, her neighborhood, and the city at large as a regular community volunteer. All who knew her knew what it felt like to be loved; if she knew you, she loved you.
The memorial to celebrate Genta's life will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at 4900 Old Irwin Simpson Rd, Mason, OH 45040. As this will be a celebration of life, please wear colors in honor of her positive personality. She would want you to remember her by the beauty of giving, the strength of faith, and the tenderness of love. You will never not have a piece of her heart to carry with you.
More than anything else, Genta loved the Lord with all of her heart. Charitable donations to local churches and outreach programs in her name would be deeply appreciated and an honor to her loving memory.
