Gerald A. Oberlag (Jerry) passed away on May 1, 2022 at the age of 78. Survived by his wife Emily, sister Jan of Madeira Beach Florida, son Scott, daughter Jennifer (Chris) Harlow and grandchildren Alexis, Max, and William. Jerry was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Huston Oberlag, and Father William Oberlag.

Jerry grew up and attended college in Missouri. He received a BA and MS from Missouri University at Columbia. Post graduating, Jerry earned a certificate from the NATO institute Von Karman at Brussels, Belgium.

Jerry worked as an Engineer in the personal products division at Procter and Gamble for 42 years, where he held the title of Global Paper Manager and was assigned to projects in the US and around the world.

Active in the Boy Scouts of America from his youth, he continued to serve the Scouts until his passing. Throughout his years in scouting, Jerry earned many accolades including the Silver Beaver Award. He was instrumental in establishing several opportunities for Scouts including the origination of the Flight of the Eagles, Merit Badge Challenge, and other Dan Beard Council events.

In retirement, Jerry found a hobby and passion for Geocaching where he made fast friends and spread his passion to all who knew him. Jerry (obieone) often ventured to places near and far, collecting caches and “finds.” His adventures took him throughout the country and became a highlight of his trips around the world, including leaving his mark during his recent tour of Israel to see the Holy Land.

Jerry was a life-long Methodist, joining Faith Community UMC in West Chester in 1974.

Jerry was a great friend and associate, a loving Father, and a doting grandfather. He is remembered fondly for his dry humor, propensity for being a meticulous researcher and planner for anything from buying a dishwasher to scheduling a vacation, and for the magnetic passions he shared with the world.
