Gloria Denis Kingery, a cherished mother, wife, and grandmother whose warm heart and vibrant spirit touched all who knew her, passed away at her workplace on June 8, 2026, in West Chester, Ohio. Born on July 5, 1960, in Mexico, Gloria's life was marked by kindness, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to those around her. She spent nearly most of her life in Los Angeles, California where she met her husband Brent and had two beautiful children. She moved with her husband and son to join her daughter in Southern Ohio in the Spring of 2021.
Gloria’s early years were enriched by a keen intellect and creative ambition that led her to pursue studies in Fashion Design and Merchandising at LA Trade Technical College. Her educational journey also included time at Los Angeles City College and Citrus College, reflecting her passion for lifelong learning and artistic expression.
Her professional life was distinguished by nearly two decades of loyal and exemplary service with Rite Aid in California, followed by four years of dedication to Target in West Chester, Ohio. Throughout her career, Gloria earned a reputation as a steadfast and trusted employee, known for her exceptional customer service, professionalism, and willingness to exceed expectations. She truly made friends everywhere she worked and was admired for her commitment and graciousness.
Gloria’s personality was as radiant as it was rare. Known affectionately by those closest to her as “Piranha,” (her punk rock name), she had a remarkable ability to make every person she met feel truly seen and appreciated. Always the first to offer a compliment and find goodness in others, her selflessness and generosity were boundless. Her creative and playful nature illuminated every gathering, uplifting those fortunate enough to know her. She was beloved not only for her kindness but also for her sassy and infectious humor - a humor that could brighten any room and linger in memory long after the moment had passed.
A consummate and passionate cook, Gloria’s home was renowned for the warmth of hospitality and the lavishness of her meals. Any visitor could anticipate a three-course meal, complete with appetizers, main courses, and always a delightful dessert. Her kitchen was her playground where she explored recipes from diverse world cuisines with enthusiasm and skill. Beyond the culinary arts, Gloria nurtured a curiosity that led her to a fascination with ancient Egyptian culture, and a love for music spanning her favorite band The Doors, early punk rock, new wave, disco, and classic and alternative rock. She was also a dedicated reader with an eclectic literary taste and expressed herself through poetry, reflecting the depth and vitality of her spirit.
Tennis was a significant part of Gloria’s younger years. Alongside her brother Gabriel Denis, she excelled on the courts, achieving notable victories and bringing pride through her athletic accomplishments. She was also a marathon runner. However, nothing brought her more joy than her role as a grandmother. Gloria’s heart swelled with love for her grandchild, Miya, frequently sharing stories and joyous moments that highlighted this treasured bond.
Gloria is mourned and remembered by her beloved husband, Brent Kingery; her devoted children, daughter Nicole Kingery and son Brentleigh Kingery; and the wider circle of friends and family who cherished her kindness and strength. She was preceded in death by her dear brother, Gabriel Denis, and her mother, Luz Torres.
Her legacy is one of warmth, generosity, resilience, and a vibrant zest for life. Gloria Kingery’s memory will remain a guiding light to her family and all who were lucky enough to know her, inspiring kindness, creativity, and love for many years to come.
