Herbert Lewis Schaerges

October 13, 1926 — April 23, 2022

Herb Schaerges passed peacefully in to the open arms of Jesus on April 23, 2022.  Waiting at the gates of Heaven is his beloved wife of 67 years Betty (Vossler) Schaerges.  Survived by his three children, Sandra (Joe) Budd, Susan (Don) Burroughs, and Robert (Janet) Schaerges, 10 grandchildren – Brian Budd, Courtney (Budd) Priest, Lindsay Budd, Brett Budd, Michael Burroughs, Megan (Burroughs) Jansen, Matthew Burroughs, Lauren (Schaerges) Bertz, Robert Schaerges Jr., and Madison Schaerges, also blessed with 10 great grandchildren.  Herb was born in Woodlawn, Ohio to the late Edith (Elberg) Schaerges and Louis Schaerges on October 13, 1926 and was brother to the late Betty (Schaerges) Moffet.  Herb attended Reading High School and married his childhood sweet heart on January 21, 1950.  Herb was a resident of the Village of Evendale since 1959.  Herb was a longtime member of Reading Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, choir member, along with many other duties.  Later he became a member of Landmark Church, Evendale, Ohio and was a faithful member until illness prevented his attendance.  Herb started his own business in 1972 (Schaerges & Vossler Pump Co.) and enjoyed a long career.  Herb enjoyed traveling, going to grand children and great grandchildren sporting events, being with family and friends and his church.  He loved Jesus and was a true example of God’s love.  He was always there for family, friends, and anyone who needed his help.

He will be missed and always remembered for the loving father and grandfather he was.

Friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Road, in West Chester Ohio on Thursday April 28.  Visitation will start a 10AM with a memorial service at 12:00PM, with Burial Services to follow immediately after at Spring Grove Cemetery.
