Herbert Joseph Witte April 3, 1929 – June 8, 2025

Herbert Joseph Witte, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 8, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born on April 3, 1929, in Cincinnati, Herb spent his entire life in the city he loved. He was a proud graduate of St. Xavier High School and Xavier University. Guided by a deep faith and a commitment to education, Herb entered the priesthood as a Jesuit minister and teacher at a local Catholic high school, where he inspired generations of students and parishioners with his wisdom and compassion.

In the late 1960s, Herb made the life-changing decision to leave the priesthood. Not long after, he met the love of his life, Jean, and together they built a marriage that spanned 55 devoted years. Herb began a new chapter in his professional life with IBM, where he enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career in sales and customer account management until his retirement in 1999.

Retirement brought Herb the joys he cherished most—time on the golf course, cheering on the Reds and, most importantly, time with his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, a proud and supportive father to his sons Joshua Witte, Paul Flohn, Tom Flohn, Mark Flohn and Bob Flohn, and a joyful grandfather and great-grandfather. His warmth, humor, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Herb’s life was defined by faith, service, love, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and enduring family bonds.

The service will be held at Church of the Assumption, Thursday 6/12/25 at 10 am, to honor his life and memory.
