Howard "Lou" Hohman

December 14, 1937 — June 5, 2025

At the age of 87 passed away June 5, 2025 at Jewish Hospital after a short illness surrounded by his wife Betsy and cousins. He was born December 14, 1937 to William and Applonia (Rosfeld) Hohman. Howard “Lou” Hohman married Carol Gibbs she preceded him in death on January 30,2016. On February 12,2017 he would marry Betsy (Elizabeth Barnes Swanson) she survives. Howard proudly served in the U.S. Army (April 1,1966- August 31,1967). Howard worked as the service manager at Glenway Chevrolet for over 40 years. He had a deep love for life and the people around him. A devoted Bengal and Reds fan. Following retirement he took extension classes at OSU and UC to become a master gardener using his talents at St. Julie Billiart and St Maximilian Kolbe churches. ”Lou” loved playing weekly golf with the Dew Sweepers his golf group and also euchre games with friends. He cherished time traveling abroad and dining at his favorite restaurants and sharing his signature drink “Irish Coffee” with family and friends. In later years he enjoyed sitting on the patio looking at the flowers with Betsy and there beloved cat Miss Lilly. He will be remembered for his generosity and joy he brought to those around him. Howard is survived by his beloved wife Betsy Hohman and cat Miss Lilly. Immediate cousins Jenny (Mike) Moeller and Judy (Doug) Behlmer of Batesville and also numerous members of the Hohman and Rosfeld family. Sister in law and brother in law Sue and Dave Eddy of Battlecreek, MI, niece's Jenny (Jay) Henry and M. Kathryn McCarville nephew Dave McCarville of southern, MI. Also Betsy's step sons: Michael (Kristy), Brian (Marlo) and Jeff (Jamie) Swanson and families. Visitation will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 5720 Hamilton Mason Rd., Liberty Township, OH 45011 on Friday, June 27th from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Howard “Lou” Hohman's memory.
