James "Jim" Allison

February 10, 1936 — September 10, 2025

James (Jim) Allison, age 89, peacefully entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on September 10, 2025 with his loving family around him. Jim was born to Paul & Laurilla Allison of Cincinnati, Ohio on February 10,1936. When he was 6, his parents bought a farm on Mason Rd in Mason where Jim grew up taking care of animals and growing corn or soybeans. He is survived by wife of almost 59 years, Judy, 3 children, Jeff Allison (Amy), Jenny Palguta (Dave) & Jill Honerlaw (Gary) and 5 granddaughters, Allison & Tiffany Palguta (Eric Stucky), Anna Anderson (Ethan), Rachel Varner (Noah) & Jessica Honerlaw (Ryan Fields).

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Compton) Allison on December 8, 1956. Jim finished his Education Degree along with his Master’s Degree at Miami University in 1961 and took a job teaching Industrial Arts at Beavercreek High School where he coached basketball and track as well. Jim was one of the first Vocational Educators in Ohio. He went to Kent State in the late 60s to earn his administration certificate and was a principal at a vocational school for most of his career. Due to his construction background, he was always remodeling or building additions for friends and family. There was nothing Jim could not fix and worked all day to figure it out if he was stumped by a project. Jim & Judy returned to Mason in 1975 and built their own house on the Allison Farm where they resided until 2019 when they moved to Otterbein Senior LIfe in Lebanon, Ohio. He began his own business, Allison Quality Homes, after retirement from education. Being a small business, he built one home at a time for many in the Mason area. His granddaughters have fond memories of riding Grandpa’s golf cart or tractors around the farm and watching the Cincinnati Reds with him. He was also known for his sweet tooth and loved bringing doughnuts or getting Graeters with his granddaughters often.

Visitation will be at Hodapp Funeral Home in West Chester on Friday, September 19 from 6:00-8:00 pm with a Celebration of LIfe service at Otterbein Senior LIfe in the chapel on Saturday September 20 at 9:30 am. Jim will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery on the Compton Family Plot with a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim’s name to Otterbein Hospice who cared for him during his time in skilled nursing.
