APKING, James I. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Apking (nee Alexander). Dear father of Debbie Atwood, Cindy (Willis) Johnson and Tammy Apking and step-father of Connie (Jim) Leiting. Grandfather of Kevin (Kori), Brian, Jamey (Jason), Scott (Jill), Crystal and Michelle (Alex) and step-grandfather of Christie and Shane. Great grandfather of Nathan, Kloe, Kolin, Samantha, Kristen and Natalie. Preceded in death by 9 brothers and 3 sisters. Passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at the age of 88. Visitation at Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St., Carthage, Friday 5-8 p.m. Funeral service Saturday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. James retired from National Distillers in 1982 after 40 years and was a member of Elmwood VFW Post #1042 and the Elmwood Moose.
