Janet Marlene Hotel (née Schramm) passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2025, in Burlington, Kentucky, at the age of 89. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on August 5, 1935.
Janet was married to the late Fred John Hotel on July 21st, 1956, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Fred, her parents John and Mary Schramm, her sisters Carole Wells and Fay Barron, and her son Fred (Marie) Hotel.
She is survived by her brother Jack (Sheila) Schramm and her loving children: Michael Hotel, Paul Hotel, Jeannie (Larry) Jansen, David (Mary Lynn) Hotel, Daniel (Kim) Hotel, Anne (Oliver) Willmann, Jane (Sean) Crotty, Steven Hotel, Joseph Hotel, and Katherine (Jon Adkins) Hotel. Janet was a proud and devoted grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Janet dedicated her life and love to God and the Catholic Church. Her faith was the foundation of her life and a guiding light for her family. She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years, touching countless lives with her kindness, skill and unwavering commitment to helping others. She found great joy in hosting gatherings, always ensuring there was an abundance of food and seating for everyone. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and welcome.
A creative spirit, Janet played the violin and crafted beautiful ceramics that will be treasured for generations. She loved to share stories of her travels to France, Nova Scotia, Ireland, Medjugorje and many places across the United States. She was funny, passionate, and deeply devoted to her family and friends.
Janet’s legacy of faith, creativity, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation to be held at St. Lawrence Church, 542 Walnut St., Lawrenceburg, IN 47025, on Tuesday July 1 from 10 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial to follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 483 South Loop Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or stelizabeth.com.
