Janet Lee Morgan

June 16, 1933 — January 17, 2024

Janet Morgan (June 16, 1933 - January 17, 2024)

On January 17 our much-loved mother and grandmother, Janet Morgan, took her final breath and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, a relationship she nurtured over a lifetime of daily prayer conversations and devotional study.

Janet was the 6th of seven children born to Arthur C Wilson and Mamie T Korte and grew up in a Wilson family that was filled with love.  She adored her sister Ruth, who mothered her, and Mom often reminisced of the days her brothers Charles, Arthur (Babe), and Woodrow (Woody) went off to war.  She shared dresses with her older sister, Ellen, and danced with her younger sister, Bonnie.

At St. Bernard High School, Mom met a handsome and funny athlete, Perry Morgan, and the two of them married on October 6, 1951.  While Perry served in the navy they lived in Philadelphia for a time, but soon returned home to Cincinnati.  They were blessed with five children, Diane Melvin, Dan Morgan, Jackie Schauer, Jill Peters, and Joel Morgan, all still living and missing their mom and their dad, who died in 2003.

While at St. Bernard High School, Janet was a cheerleader and worked as a soda jerk, dispensing drinks and ice cream.  Later in life, she worked as a dental technician before launching Ortho Tek Dental Lab, serving the Cincinnati area.  She enjoyed bowling, sewing, and zipping around town in her Jeep.  While in her 40’s she traveled alone to Alaska and joined a group of women on a week-long dog sledding adventure across the Alaskan tundra.

She and Perry leave the legacy of a beautiful and loving family, with 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren!  The values they instilled, including hard work, generous laughter, quiet faith, and loyal love continue to echo through the generations.

On Thursday, January 25, friends and family are invited to gather at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cincinnati Dayton Rd, Liberty Township, OH 45044, for a visitation from 12:30-1:00pm followed by a memorial service led by Pastor Dan Herb.  Following the service, all are welcome to travel to Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241 for a brief committal service in the chapel.

The family would like to thank all those who have poured out love, care, and offers of help in recent days.  You have been God’s hands and heart to us!

Thanks also to Hodapp Funeral Home for their caring and professional support in this difficult time.

No flowers please; memorial gifts may be given in memory of Janet Morgan to support the ministry of Messiah Lutheran Church, 4715 Holly Ave, Middletown, OH 45044.
