Jerome N. Ankenbauer

ANKENBAUER, Jerry “Ank” beloved husband of 61 years to Janet (nee Sunderman).  Loving father of Jerry “Stink” (Mary), Jeff (Lisa), Jack (Karen) Ankenbauer and Angie (Dave) Luecke.  Cherished Grandfather of Anna, Jerry and Tim Ankenbauer, Jeffrey (Devin) Ankenbauer, Abby (Landen) Hunter, Sam and Max Ankenbauer; Emma Ankenbauer; Jacob, Jonathon, Maggie and Daniel Luecke.  Adored Great Grandfather of James and George Ankenbauer and Henry Hunter.  Brother of Jim Ankenbauer, Roger Ankenbauer and the late Benny Ankenbauer.

The most important things to Ank were faith, family and friends. He was also a man of service. In that vein, he was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, serving in many roles including the Grand Knight role on two separate occasions.  His legacy will include the K of C Blue Rock Sports Complex and spent many days and evenings with his family and friends there.  It truly was a love of his life, as were sports in general. He passed that love for sports on to his kids and for that, his entire family is eternally grateful.

His faith was the most important thing in his life and he passed on those beliefs and values to his kids as well.  He was a devoted Catholic and lived his life adhering to the morals and values of his religion.

He will mostly be remembered as a family man.  He truly was the patriarch of his very grateful extended family.  He was a quiet but very strong presence in his family’s lives and will be greatly missed.

He passed away at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at age 86.  Visitation will be held at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, College Hill. 45224 on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4-7 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Little Flower Church, 5560 Kirby Avenue, Mt. Airy, 45239 on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10 AM. Donations may be made to Right to Life or Pregnancy Center West.  Condolences at hodappfuneralhome.com
