JoAnn Janszen (nee Dunhoft), 80 years old, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Bayley Place, following a six year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born May 11, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lillian (Kresser) Dunhoft.
JoAnn, a 1960 graduate of Western Hills High School, married the late Wilbur “Bill” Janszen, Jr. in 1968 and they lived together in Cincinnati for 38 years. During her fight against Alzheimer’s, JoAnn was cared for by the loving nurses at Bayley Place. JoAnn found much enjoyment from her devoted caregivers who kept her active with scenic car rides, playing bingo, lunch along the river and Fernbank Golf Course, visits to the viewing area at the airport, and a local farm to watch and feed animals.
JoAnn had a heart for giving, making a tremendous, everlasting impact on our community with her philanthropic passions. She had particular interests in education in the catholic/private sector, children’s healthcare and adult healthcare, supporting organizations such as Elder High School, Seton High School, Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund, Shriner’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati, Springer School and Center, Bayley Place, among many others silently.
