JoAnn Stoeckel, born on September 18, 1944, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025. A dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, JoAnn leaves behind a legacy of warmth, support, and community involvement that will be remembered fondly by those who knew her.
JoAnn’s career spanned 30 plus years as a school bus driver, most recently with the Mason City Schools prior to her retirement. She took immense pride in her work, not only for driving the children safely, but also for creating a nurturing and enjoyable atmosphere on her buses. JoAnn’s competitive spirit shone brightly in the Bus Rodeos, where she competed and won at local, state and national levels, showcasing her remarkable skills behind the wheel.
A graduate of Mt. Notre Dame High School, JoAnn dedicated herself to helping others, often putting the needs of her family and community before her own. Her nurturing personality made her a supportive anchor for her children, standing by them through thick and thin.
JoAnn's life was rich with hobbies and interests. She loved playing bingo and bunco and found joy in crocheting, jewelry-making, and various crafts. These activities were not just pastimes but expressions of her creativity and passion for bringing joy to those around her.
Throughout her life, JoAnn was deeply involved in numerous charitable foundations, including the Karen Wellington Foundation, Change of Heart, Pink Ribbon Good, and Relay For Life, reflecting her compassionate nature and her commitment to helping those in need.
Beloved wife of the late William Stoeckel Sr. Loving mother of Gregory, Lynnette (Frank), William Jr., (the late Debbie), Douglas (Shari) and the late Vincent. Cherished grandmother of Erik (Amanda), Alyssa, Jennifer, Brandon (Caitlin), Tiffany (Drew), Sam (Alana), Matt (Allie), Tyler (Alexa), Christopher (Anja), and Samuel. Dear great-grandmother of Eden, Leia, Gideon, Meredith, Henry, Blake, and the late Adalynn. Sister of Kenneth (Linda) and the late Shirley. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
JoAnn Stoeckel’s impact on her family, friends, and community will resonate for generations. Her unwavering spirit and dedication to her loved ones will forever serve as an inspiration. The memory of her laughter, love, and support will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Rd, Mason, OH 45040 on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
