John A. “Skip” McKenna Age 67
Born: March 11, 1959
Passed Away: September 16, 2026
Residence: West Chester, Ohio
John A. “Skip” McKenna, son of John F. and Mardelle (Eicher) McKenna, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Skip is survived by his devoted wife, Becky McKenna; his daughters, Krista (Bruce) Patterson, Tricia (Al) McKenna, and Melissa McKenna; and his step-son, Alex Breeden.
He is also survived by his siblings, Joe (Tina) McKenna, Jim (Natalie) McKenna, and Julie (Tom) Knudson, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was a proud and playful grandfather to Suri, Maxim, Mila, Amira and Liam Neghaban, and Jacob Patterson, each of whom adored him and will forever cherish the memories he created with them.
Skip is also survived by his mother, Mardelle McKenna, whom he loved deeply. He never missed a Tuesday call with her—a simple tradition that reflected the profound bond they shared.
Skip found his greatest peace at the beach, especially when he was there with Becky. Their trips together were among his most treasured moments. He also loved spending summer weekends at the lake, making memories with family and friends. A talented athlete, Skip excelled as a high school quarterback and carried that same spirit of determination and camaraderie throughout his life.
A gifted cook, Skip delighted in preparing meals for his family—especially when someone requested one of his specialties. His smoked ribs were legendary. And no one could make gumbo quite like Skip.
Skip’s warm, mischievous sense of humor—especially with his grandchildren—brought laughter wherever he went. His ability to make people smile will be remembered and cherished by his family for years to come.
He was immensely proud to be a McKenna and held his family name with honor and gratitude.
Skip was preceded in death by his father, John F. McKenna, and his nephew, Samuel James McKenna.
He was a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School, Class of 1977.
