Joyce Ann McCluskey, née West, born on August 6, 1935, in Cincinnati, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 26, 2026, at her home. She was a woman whose life was marked by grace, warmth, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joyce was known for her radiant personality; she never knew a stranger and was never short of a good story. A true lady in every sense, she carried herself with a beauty that was reflected not only in her appearance but in her demeanor and kindness. Her life as a military wife was filled with rich experiences, stories of which she loved to share with friends and family gathered around, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
A proud Miss Cincinnati in her youth, Joyce's accomplishments extended far beyond titles and accolades. She was the devoted wife of career Army officer William J. McCluskey, to whom she was married for an extraordinary 65 years—a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Her family was central to her life, and she was a loving mother to Kimberly Fisk, Pamela Gilles, William McCluskey, and Missy Wilson. Her daughters and sons-in-law—Patrick Gilles and Lee Wilson—stood alongside her in life’s journey. Joyce also found joy in her grandchildren Brittini, Savanna, Blake, Gabby, Billy, Natalie, and Brooke, who brought much happiness to her later years.
Her faith played a significant role in Joyce's life. She cherished her Bible study groups and the friendships she cultivated through them. Demonstrating her deep spiritual commitment, she made the profound decision to be baptized at the age of 89, an event she regarded as one of her proudest accomplishments. This step reflected her lifelong devotion to living a meaningful and faith-centered life.
Joyce's family extended beyond her children and grandchildren to her siblings and in-laws, including Don West, Judy, Ray West, June, Ralph West, Shirley, Connie McCluskey, Mike McCluskey, Elaine, Pat McCluskey, Sandy, Kathy Bryant, and Jeff Rosa. Each of these relationships held a special place in her heart.
Though she is now reunited with her late husband William J. McCluskey, her brother Vernon, and brother-in-law Daniel McCluskey, Joyce’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her story is one of enduring love, resilience, and heartfelt connection, and she will be remembered as a beautiful soul who enriched the lives around her.
Joyce Ann McCluskey’s life was a shining example of devotion—to her family, her faith, and the community she embraced with open arms. Her stories, her laughter, and her spirit will remain treasured memories for all who loved her deeply.
