Joyce Ruebel passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, at a tragically young 86 years old on September 16th, 2025. She was a Leo, born July 28th, 1939, to her parents Raymond and Gertrude Miller. She was the beloved, adored, and treasured wife of the late Nicolas Ruebel, who we’re sure ran to greet her, arms wide open, when she was finally called home. She was then embraced, at long last, by her late sister, Janet Sunderhaus, and late brother, Barry Miller. She was the perfect mother to Traci (Mike) Bernecker, Kelly Frey, Nicholas (Cyndi) Ruebel II. The world’s coolest, kindest, most fun grandmother to Christina (Scott) Samek, Joshua (Lindsey) Frey, Coray (Austin) Green, Nicholas (Kandice) Ruebel III, Cody Frey, Michael Bernecker, Mason Ruebel, Brayden Ruebel, Keenan Frey, Payton Ruebel and the late Tyler Frey. The dearest great grandmother, our Gigi, to Laura Frey, Sawyer Samek, Noah, Owen, and Jolene Green, and newest baby, “Nico,” Nicholas Ruebel IV. The best aunt to several nieces and nephews. She was the cherished sister-in-law of Jean Maddin, Doris Hutson and Ray Sunderhaus.
She worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years, the manager of the Atlas Agency, a subsidiary of Midland-Guardian, at her retirement. We can’t talk about Joyce, Mom, Grandma, Gigi, without mentioning Clovernook Country Club, her second-home. There, she was the chairman of the “Lady’s nine-holers league” and was on various committees at the club. It brought her countless hours of joy to be a part of their community. Joyce Ruebel greeted the day with lipstick on and a smile. She had so many friends. She made the holidays with her family, magical. She was magical. She was the sun and our days are ever darker without her. But, to do her the justice she would have commanded, please join us in celebrating her adventurous, beautiful life. We love you. We sure miss you.
