Judith (Judy) Allison, age 87, peacefully entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 13, 2026 with her loving family by her side. Judy was born to Walter & Jane Compton on October 6, 1938 of Mason, Ohio. She is survived by her sister Donna Harper (Rev. Harry), 3 children, Jeff Allison (Amy), Jenny Palguta (Dave) & Jill Honerlaw (Gary) and 5 granddaughters, Allison &Tiffany Palguta (Eric Stucky), Anna Anderson (Ethan), Rachel Varner (Noah) & Jessica Honerlaw (Ryan Fields).

Judy married her high school sweetheart, Jim Allison, as soon as she turned 18 after high school on December 8, 1956. They were married for almost 69 years when Jim passed away in 2025. She worked at Ralston Purina while Jim finished his Education Degree at Miami University. When he completed school, they moved to Beavercreek and started their family. In 1975, they returned to Mason and built a house on the Allison Farm where they resided until 2019 when they moved to Otterbein Senior Life.

Judy was a wonderful musician as well as wife, mother, “Granny,” seamstress, and cook! She was very patient to teach anyone who wanted to learn how to sew. Every granddaughter loved spending time in the kitchen helping Granny cook. She started taking piano lessons by the time she was 6 years old and began playing the organ in her home church (Mason United Methodist) when she was 16. She was an organist and choir director for most of her adult life. She taught piano lessons until she was 81 years old, accompanied many different concerts and musicals until she was 78 and she was an organist at a Methodist church for over 50 years. After her 3 children were born, she decided to pursue a Music Education Degree at Wright State University with emphasis in organ and went to school part-time due to her family obligations for 13 years. She completed a Music Education Degree in 1979 and took a job in the Kings School District as an elementary music teacher which she did for 20 years. While teaching, she completed her Masters Degree in 1989 from Miami University. She decided to retire from public school teaching when she was 60 since she began her teaching career later in life. The year she retired, Jim and Judy bought the Mason Fine Arts Center in downtown Mason where she continued to teach piano while offering music and art lessons to the entire community for about 10 years. Even her granddaughters were able to enjoy music lessons from “Granny” at the center.

Visitation will be at Hodapp Funeral Home in West Chester on Thursday, September 17 from 5-7 pm with a Celebration of LIfe service at Otterbein Senior LIfe in the chapel on Friday, September 18 at 11 am. Judy will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason on the Compton Family Plot next to Jim and her parents with a private family service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Judy’s name to Otterbein Hospice 585 N. St. Rt. 741 Lebanon, OH 45036 who cared for her during her time in skilled nursing.
