Kathryn “Katie” (Wachter) Suer passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at the remarkable age of 101.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Katie was the beloved daughter of Anna and John Wachter, whose roots traced back to Bavaria, Germany. She built a life grounded in love, faith, and family, and shared 66 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Donald “Pete” Suer.

Katie was the proud mother of seven children—Barb (Dave), Greg (Annette), Dave, Bernie (Kathy), Julie (Bob), Mike (Julie), and John (Dawn) who were the center of her world. Her legacy continued to grow through her 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was also a cherished sister to Betty Jane McHenry, Ann (Tootsie) Wachter, and John Wachter, and a beloved aunt and friend to many.

Katie found joy in life’s simple pleasures—a beautiful flower, a good book, music, and time spent with those she loved. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, reading, and gardening. She had a gentle spirit, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Known for her quick mind and warm presence, Katie always had a smile ready for everyone she met. She had a natural curiosity about the world and stayed informed on current events, reading the daily newspaper well into her later years.

Katie deeply valued her family and took great interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She instilled in them the importance of faith and a strong belief in God, which guided her through both joyful and difficult times. She often reminded her family, “If you look hard enough, you can see the good in everyone.” Her outlook on life was one of gratitude—most days, she believed her cup was “half full”—and she rarely complained.

Though the final months of her life were challenging, Katie remained strong in spirit. She never gave up; her body simply grew tired.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Twin Towers and Hospice of Cincinnati for their devoted care.

Katie passed with a smile on her face, a reflection of the joy and love she carried throughout her life. Heaven has truly gained a beautiful soul.

To the world, she was a mother—but to her family, she was the world.

A visitation will be held at Little Flower Church on Wednesday, August 19, at 10:00 AM., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Services will be live-streamed @ www.littleflower-church.org at the time of the Mass.
