Larry Carl Freese grew up in Boone County Kentucky hunting, fishing, and loving life. He was raised by Carl and Clara Freese. He was the #3 child out of 4 siblings. He was a Man in every sense of the word, who lived his life believing ‘nothing less than your very best’ was enough. He was first and foremost a Man of God. His belief in the Almighty inspired his Faith, which he used as the foundation of his marriage to Sandy, his partner in all aspects for nearly 50 years until her passing in 2012. They raised their 3 children through the example they each walked every day, not simply saying the words but living the life of true Christians.
He loved all people and made sure he shared himself, his time, his treasure, and his counsel with all, expecting nothing in return. As his energies through Christ shifted from The Worldwide Church of God, Mom joined him, in now their, continued Ministries at the Vineyard Church where they Shepherded together all those seeking Christ. This was their shared passion.
Larry chose to follow his Uncle Ray for a career path, becoming a Pipefitter but not just any Pipefitter. He excelled in to winning the State of Ohio Pipefitter Apprentice Championship and ultimately taking 3rd in the National Championship at Purdue University. As he mastered the skills of his trade, he never rested because ‘only his best was good enough’. He shifted his mechanical interests in to becoming what is commonly known as Cincinnati’s Best Mechanical Estimator. Leading the growth of 3 different contractors during decades of learning everyday at an Industry and Profession he loved. Ultimately, he joined the United team in 1986 where he found his home and continued Estimating, Managing, Teaching and Sharing all he had into his 80’s.
Despite giving so much of himself and his time to his Church, Wife and Work, he was a Man who never allowed his children to want. He made sure each received his time, attention, and Love, Only His Very Best. Even in his final days, he in endless pain and labored breathing, he shut out his pain to ask his son in a calm genuine tone and expression, “Why are you crying?” He wanted to care for his children even as they were trying to care for him, he was that kind of Man.
As a Grandpa, he extended his unconditional love to each of his Grandchildren. They each knew and know his love for each of them will never fail. He was that kind of Man.
After Sandy passed away, He found Love again in Patti who made him smile and helped give him purpose. He showed us all his love was big enough to share now with Patti and her daughter. Although they came into his life after his most mobile years had passed him, they too learned the strength of his Spirit and size of his Heart. This is a lesson he shared with almost every single person.
To the world, Husband, Dad and Grandpa Larry was an example of Love, Strength, Mercy and Kindness. He was a gentle giant Spiritually, Emotionally, Physically in all senses and in all terms. His example of who and what a Christian should be touched thousands of lives. From Caregivers in his later years, New Friends, Family, Co-Workers, Vendors, Clients, Bosses, Doctors, Strangers, Lifelong Friends, Clerks, Janitors, Gas Station attendants, The Rich, The Poor, In Larry’s eyes we are all God’s Children and to each of us he gave something of himself.
To our Earthly Father we say, You Have Done Your Very Best and We are ALL better because of you. To our Heavenly Father we say Thank You, now please sound the trumpets and sing the songs, your servant, A Man of God is now home with you for eternal Peace and Joy.
Larry passed away on Sunday July 12, 2026 at the age of 83.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2026 at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6041 Hamilton Avenue, College Hill, OH 45224 from 3:00 PM until Funeral Service at 5:00 PM.
