Lorenzo Acosta, known affectionately to many as "Lorenzo the Great," passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, in West Chester, Ohio, at the age of 100. Born in El Paso, Texas, on May 4, 1925, Larry lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by his unwavering determination and dedicated service.

Larry proudly served 21 years in the U.S. Army, achieving the esteemed rank of Master Sergeant. His military career spanned two monumental conflicts: World War II and the Korean War. Larry often recounted with pride the remarkable experiences and friendships forged during those tumultuous times. His commitment to duty and honor remained a guiding light throughout his life.

Following his distinguished military service, Larry transitioned into civilian life with the same vigor and dedication. He spent 22 years at Cincinnati Milacron, where he cultivated not only a career but also meaningful friendships, particularly through his passion for golf. In fact, his love for the sport inspired him to start a golf league at Milacron, leading to cherished interactions with his golfing buddies who would grow into lifelong friends. Larry later took his enthusiasm for golf to Hamilton County Parks, where he cherished his role as a starter at the golf course for 16 years.

In his personal life, Larry was a devoted husband and father. He shared many adventures with his beloved wife, Patricia. Their bond was beautifully evident during their final moments together when he held her hand tightly, soothingly repeating, “I love you,” a testament to the enduring love they shared.

Larry's family included his cherished children: Linette (Jim) Kiefer, Clark (Tammy) Acosta, Glenn (Regina) Smith, and Marc (Theresa) Bell. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, and his legacy continues through his 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Each member of his family brought joy to his life, and he loved them deeply, often sharing laughter and his wonderful sense of humor.

Larry is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma (Beckley), as well as his parents, Lorenzo Acosta and Librado Chavaria.

As we reflect on the life of Lorenzo Acosta, we are reminded of his joy for life and the kindness he extended to those around him. He built a life filled with love, duty, and adventure. His formidable spirit will be missed, but the memories he created will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
